Editorial Standards

Editorial Policy

A wasted trip to the wrong office, or showing up without the right document, costs you a day. Every page on this site is built from SSA's own information and checked so you can rely on it.

Where the Facts Come From

  • The Social Security Administration for office names, addresses, phone numbers and hours (SSA's open office data), and for every rule, document list, date and dollar figure in the guides (ssa.gov pages).
  • The U.S. Census Bureau for office locations, city points and ZIP code centers, used to measure distances.
  • Original work built only from those sources, such as the nearest-office lists, with the method explained in the methodology.

We don't use forums, other office directories or reader reviews as sources.

What Every Page Goes Through Before Publishing

  • It answers one clear question near the top: where the office is and when it's open, or how to get a task done.
  • Office details are shown exactly as SSA publishes them, with the date of SSA's data on the page.
  • Guide facts are recorded with the ssa.gov page they came from and the date they were checked, and automated checks confirm that every figure traces to those records.
  • Automated checks confirm that internal links work and that no page quotes a detail the data no longer supports.
  • Ads are labelled "Advertisement" and kept apart from office details and the finder.

How We Point You to SSA

This site is independent and is not the Social Security Administration. Pages link to ssa.gov and to SSA's Office Locator wherever an official step is involved, and guides say when a task can be done online instead of at an office.

How Corrections Work

We correct a page when SSA's data or ssa.gov shows it is wrong. A correction updates the detail, cites the supporting source and changes the review date. To report an error, use the contact form with the page address and what changed.

Who Is Responsible

Pages are reviewed for accuracy and clarity by Michael Rupe, U.S. Air Force veteran, and published by Rupe Enterprises LLC. Neither gives legal advice or represents anyone before SSA.

What to Check Before You Go

Offices move, change their hours and close for weather or emergencies, sometimes after the date shown on a page. Before you travel, confirm the office with SSA's Office Locator or by phone, and check SSA's office closings page. Decisions about your benefits are made only by SSA.

Independent site, not affiliated with the Social Security Administration. Office addresses, phone numbers and hours come from SSA's public office data. To apply for benefits or manage your record, go to SSA directly at ssa.gov.
